Snapping, guides and proximity distances

The canvas shows alignment lines and gap distances while you drag, and a display settings menu where you turn these on or off and switch between cm and ft.

The canvas gives you visual feedback while you drag, so you can line things up without eyeballing it.

Alignment guide lines

When you drag a table, row, or other element, thin guide lines appear as soon as one of its edges or its center lines up with another element nearby. Let go while the line is showing and the element snaps into that alignment, so your tables end up straight without you nudging them pixel by pixel.

Proximity distances

As you drag an element close to another one, a small label appears showing the real-world gap between them, in whichever unit you are using. This makes it easy to keep, say, a consistent walkway width between rows of tables without pulling out a ruler.

The background grid

The canvas shows a light grid in the background to give you a sense of scale and help you keep elements visually aligned, even when snapping and guide lines are off.

Display settings

Click the gear icon in the toolbar to open Canvas guides, where you can:

  • Turn Alignment guides & snap on or off. This one toggle controls both the guide lines and the snapping.
  • Turn Proximity distances on or off.
  • Set the Distance unit to Centimeters (cm) or Feet (ft).

These settings apply across the whole editor, including the size fields on tables and the length shown on a ruler.
