Create your first seating chart

The setup wizard walks you through naming your event, adding tables, choosing which guest details to collect, and importing your list.

When you create a new chart, a short wizard walks you through the basics so you start with a plan that already fits your event. You can skip the optional steps and fill them in later.

Select Create New Chart from your dashboard to begin.

Step 1 of the create chart wizard, showing the progress stepper and the event name field
  1. 1The stepper shows where you are. You're on step 1 of 4.
  2. 2Give your event a name. This is all you need to get started.
  3. 3Add an optional description.
Step 1 of the wizard: name your event.

Step 1: Event details

Give your event a name so you can find it later, then add the details that help your guests:

  • A short description.
  • The date.
  • The location, with address suggestions as you type.

These details also appear on your public RSVP page if you decide to collect responses, so it is worth filling them in.

Step 2: Templates and tables

This step is optional. You can start from a ready-made layout template, or add a few tables now and set their capacity to get a head start. If you would rather build everything by hand in the editor, skip this step and move on.

Step 2 of the create chart wizard: add tables or start from a template
  1. 1Step 2 of 4: templates and tables.
  2. 2Add rectangular or round tables, or skip and build later.
Step 2: add tables now, or skip and build them later.

Step 3: Seats & RSVP Management

This step covers two things: how guests will respond, and what you want to know about each of them.

  • Choose an RSVP mode: Manual Management Only if you'll handle every guest yourself, Public RSVP if guests should search for their name and confirm on a public page, or Digital Ticket & QR Entry if you want to issue scannable tickets. See Choosing an RSVP mode for details on each.
  • Decide whether Last Name, Email, and Phone Number are required, and add your own custom questions, such as a meal choice or a dietary need.

Collecting the right details here saves you from chasing guests for information later.

Step 4: Import your guests

Also optional. If you already have your guest list in a spreadsheet, you can bring it in now so your guests are ready to seat. For a full walkthrough, see Import your guest list from Excel.

You are ready

When you finish, your new chart opens in the editor. From here you can arrange tables, seat your guests, and turn on RSVPs whenever you are ready.
