Why this layout

At 150 guests the layout has to work for the people serving it as much as for the people sitting in it. The bar sits off to one side, away from the dance floor, so its queue forms in its own corner instead of in a dining aisle. Fourteen rounds of ten run in rows of five, five and four with a straight aisle between the rows, so servers can walk the full width of the room without weaving. Ten-seat rounds are 72 inches across and need about 121 sq ft each with clearance, so plan the room around that.

Room and spacing

Tables14 rounds of 10 plus a 10-seat head table: 15 tables, 150 seats.
Round table size72-inch rounds, which seat 10 comfortably and 12 at most, and need about 121 sq ft each with clearance.
Estimated room sizeSeating only: 2,160–2,400 sq ft (14.4–16 sq ft per guest, aisles included). Seating plus dance floor: about 2,430–2,670 sq ft. The dance floor's 3-ft border comes on top.
Dance floorAbout 270 sq ft of dancing space (roughly a 17-ft square), plus a 3-ft clear border around it. That is 40% of guests (60 people) dancing at about 4.5 sq ft each.
Buffet stations2 lines (one per 100 guests, rounded up) × about 150 sq ft is about 300 sq ft of stations if you serve a buffet. Standing room for the queue comes on top.
Room size with a buffetAbout 2,730–2,970 sq ft: the seating-plus-dance-floor estimate plus 300 sq ft of buffet stations.
Head table10 seats is the couple plus 8. On one side that is about 20 ft of table.
Table footprint14 rounds × about 121 sq ft (a 72-inch round plus its clearance ring) is about 1,694 sq ft, plus the head table. In rows of five, five and four, keep 60 inches between table edges.
Accessible seating and exitsKeep a 36-inch route to every table (ADA 403.5.1), with about 5% of dining surfaces accessible and spread around the room. A room with 50 or more people needs a second exit (IBC 1006.2.1).

Bar, service and buffet flow at 150 guests

Where the bar goes

Put the bar where a queue can form without touching a dining aisle. In this layout it is in the corner, away from the dance floor and the head table. One bar for 150 guests will queue at cocktail hour; if your venue allows a second service point, put it on the opposite side so guests pick the nearer one.

Rows, aisles and service

The fourteen rounds sit in rows of five, five and four. Keep the 60-inch gap between table edges: it is an 18-inch chair, a 24-inch service aisle and the next chair. Leave one straight aisle from the kitchen door to the head table. Servers carry trays along it, and it can double as your 36-inch accessible route.

Space for buffet stations

A buffet takes about 150 sq ft per line and one line per 100 guests, so 150 guests need 2 lines and about 300 sq ft of stations. That space comes out of the dining floor, and the queue needs standing room in front of it. Add a rectangular area to the plan, label it Buffet and size it to your caterer's stations; for plated courses, the same space becomes a service corridor.

How to use it

  1. Open the template: fourteen rounds, the head table, the bar and the dance floor are already placed.
  2. Import your RSVP list, then seat the head table, both sets of parents and the grandparents first, since they are the hardest to move later.
  3. Check that one clear aisle runs from the kitchen to the head table, then export the plan. Free exports carry a small watermark.

Frequently asked questions

How many tables do I need for 150 wedding guests?

Fifteen tables of 10 if everyone sat at rounds, or nineteen tables of 8 (150 ÷ 8 = 18.75, rounded up). The 10-seat head table seats guests too, so this template uses fourteen 72-inch rounds of 10 plus the head table: 15 tables, 150 seats.

How big a room do I need for 150 wedding guests?

Seating only needs 2,160–2,400 sq ft (14.4–16 sq ft per guest). A dance floor for 40% of guests dancing adds about 270 sq ft, a 17-ft square, for about 2,430–2,670 sq ft in all. Check your venue's listed capacity as well.

How much space does a buffet need for 150 guests?

About 300 sq ft of stations: 2 lines (one per 100 guests, rounded up) at about 150 sq ft each, plus standing room for the queue. With the dance floor that is about 2,730–2,970 sq ft, or serve plated courses to keep the dining floor clear.

Where should the bar go at a 150-guest wedding?

In a corner away from the dance floor and the head table, where its queue can form without touching a dining aisle. One bar for 150 guests will queue at cocktail hour, so a second service point on the opposite side helps if your venue allows it.
