Editable online vs Word, Excel and PDF templates

A Word or Excel seating chart template is a grid you fill in by hand. It works for a short guest list, but every time someone changes seats you retype the list and redraw the plan.

These templates are edited online. Drag a guest to another seat and the plan and the guest list change together. You can import your guest list from a spreadsheet, and when the layout is final you export it as a print-ready PDF. An Event Pass or a paid plan adds an Excel export.

Seating chart template questions

Are these seating chart templates free?

Yes. Templates marked "Free, no signup" open straight in the browser editor. Templates with 10-seat tables need a free account, and the largest layouts need a paid plan because the free plan holds five tables. Free PDF exports carry a small watermark.

Can I edit a template after opening it?

Yes. Every table, seat and label can be moved, resized, added or deleted, so a template is a starting point rather than a fixed layout.

Can I print a seating chart template?

Yes. When the chart is finished, export it as a PDF and print it for an easel sign, a table plan or your venue team.

Is there a Word or Excel version?

There is no Word template: an online chart keeps the layout and the guest list in sync, which a document cannot. You can import guests from a spreadsheet, and an Event Pass or a paid plan exports the finished chart to Excel.
